SAFETY

Read all instructions before using.

  • Save these instructions for future reference.
  • Intended Use: Use this device only as a physical stop for cross-cutting material on a stationary saw. Do not use it as a handle, a structural support, or for any purpose other than intended.

  • Saw Safety: Always follow the safety guidelines provided by your saw manufacturer. Never reach across the blade path to adjust the Stop.

  • Clamp the workpiece to the saw to prevent the material from binding between the blade and scale stop or rotate the stop out of the way of the material before the cut.

  • Clearance & Debris: Ensure the area between the Stop and the blade is clear of sawdust and off-cuts before each use. Trapped debris can cause inaccurate cuts or dangerous material binding.

  • Secure Mounting: Periodically check that the saw and backstop are secure to the worktable.

  • Pinch Points: Keep fingers clear of the eccentric lever and clamping mechanism when locking the Stop.

Installation & Calibration Guide

1. Initial Assembly

  • Slide the Stop onto the Scale.
  • Slide both End Supports onto the Scale, but leave them loose for now.
  • Secure your saw firmly to your work table.

2. Mounting the Supports

  • Position the assembly on your preferred side of the saw, perpendicular to the blade.
  • Align the edge of the Scale with your saw’s fence. Use the provided spacers to adjust the height if necessary so that the top of the end support is just below the saw bed.
  • Use the provided screws to secure both Supports to your work table.

3. Rough Alignment

  • Hold a tape measure against the saw blade teeth on the side of the blade closest to the backstop and extend the tape measure along the Scale.
  • Slide the Scale itself until its engraved marks match the readings on your tape measure.
  • Hand-tighten one of the End Support clamps to hold the Scale in place.

4. Setting the Lever Tension

  • Flip the eccentric lever to lock the stop. If the Stop is loose, rotate the lever CW; if too tight, rotate CCW. When closed, the stop should be secure without over-stressing the mechanism.

5. Fine Calibration

  • Select a scrap bar.
  • Unlock the Stop lever and slide the Stop to a position about 1/4" shorter than the bar, aligned exactly with a tick mark. Lock the lever.
  • Make a cut and measure the resulting piece with a caliper.
  • If the cut is too long: Loosen the Scale and slide it a tiny bit toward the saw.
  • If the cut is too short: Loosen the Scale and slide it a tiny bit Away from the saw.

6. Final Lock-Down

  • To verify: move the Stop another 1/4" toward the saw to prepare for another cut test; note the position; recut your scrap; and measure the bar with the caliper to compare against the new noted stop position.
  • Once the caliper reading matches the Scale perfectly, tighten both End Support clamps.
